Ms. Rey earned her Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law, and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2007. She is currently admitted to practice in Florida and Wyoming, including the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for Wyoming, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Ms. Rey holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in human resources administration, magna cum laude, from Saint Leo University, and an MBA in business economics & public policy from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. She became certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) in 1999 and subsequently earned the advanced designations of Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR). She is also certified as a SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) by the Society for Human Resource Management.

As a licensed attorney, she practices in labor and employment law (management), business formation and compliance, corporate and commercial litigation, commercial transactions and government law. Ms. Rey has litigated wage and hour, FMLA, wrongful termination, performance and payment bond, trade infringement and various contract dispute matters for corporate, not-for-profit and government clients. She has represented clients and employers before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Labor (DOL), Public Employee Relations Commission (PERC), Florida Board of Education, Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation Unemployment Division (AWI) and the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR). She has also represented employers in collective bargaining negotiations. She served as a federal litigation intern with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida and interned with the in-house counsel office for Tech Data Corporation, a Fortune 500 company and one of the world’s largest IT product distributors.

Prior to her legal career, Ms. Rey held a variety of executive and professional human resource management positions, including serving as chief human resource officer and a compliance officer. She has served as certified reviewer for the Juvenile Welfare Board’s accreditation program for not-for-profit organizations; and has worked in higher education, economic development, local government, not-for-profit, and small business environments. Ms. Rey has also served as an adjunct instructor of economics and human resources, and has facilitated internal strategic planning processes, service model design and evaluation, and has implemented quality assurance, utilization management, federal grant compliance, and risk management programs.

Ms. Rey conducted or facilitated a variety of trainings on recruitment and selection best practices, workplace harassment, and equal employment opportunity. She presented “You Can’t Take It With You,” a concurrent session on non-compete and confidentiality agreements, at the 2010 HR Florida State Conference and “Fundamentals of Human Resource Management” at the 2013 Wyoming Municipal Institute. She has also presented topics on “Wage and Hour Compliance in Florida,” “Avoiding the Penalty Box: Why In House Mediation Programs Can Be Effective,” “Residential Foreclosure Mediation: An Overview” and the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.”

Originally from Saint Petersburg, Florida, Jennifer Rey moved to Brooksville in 1986 and is an active member in the community. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Brooksville Rotary Club and a local United Methodist Church. She has previously served as a board member for Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County, and the United Way of Hernando County.
