Grand Jury Elects Not to Indict Tony Stewart
The Ontario County (N.Y.) District Attorney announced today at 3:00 p.m. that the Grand Jury had completed its deliberations and would not hand down an indictment on any possible charge against NASCAR Sprint Cup Driver, Tony Stewart. When asked whether he could, or would, indict Stewart despite the Grand Jury decision, he replied that he felt the “free and unfettered access to information which resulted in the Grand Jury’s decision should be respected”. He also mentioned that the fact that Kevin Ward Jr. had walked into racing traffic and that toxicology results from the autopsy indicated he had sufficient levels of marijuana in his system to impair judgment may have contributed to the Grand Jury’s decision.
