A woman was critically injured at a Manhattan shopping center when she was hit by a falling shopping cart that had been thrown from the fourth floor by two boys, police said.
The two twelve-year-old boys allegedly tossed the shopping cart over a fourth-floor railing at the mall, hitting 47-year-old Marion Salmon Hedges while she was shopping for last-minute Halloween items on Sunday. Hedges suffered a cardiac arrest during the incident and had to be rushed to Harlem Hospital, where doctors placed her in a medically-induced coma.
The two boys were arrested on assault charges and were reportedly laughing and joking while they were being hauled off by police.
Both boys appeared in Family Court over the incident.
